If Money wasn't a consideration I would take the Kia first, the Traverse 2nd and the Highlander 3rd. The Captains chairs are the most comfortable and the rear seat is not only the largest, but the most accessible. The rear seats and room are superior on the Traverse. ![]() ![]() It doesn't have the athleticism, nor does it have the amazing technology of the Kia, but it's also $20k less. The body roll on the Highlander is much worse. The ride is smooth although some noticeable body roll when turning, but it's minimal. Overall, the interior is also the quietest of the 3. However it didn't have the price tag either. Does it have the refinement of my family members' cars, no. My main reason for my purchase, it was the only 7 seat SUV with captains chairs under $40k. My parents have a 2019 Highlander XLE and my sister has the 2020 Kia Telluride SX. I felt very comfortable with purchasing a 2021 Traverse LT. Trailering enhancements (trailer hitch, upgraded system and touchscreen-based hitch guidance). This is the top-of-the-line version of the Traverse, featuring: Memory settings for driver's seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors.Includes the safety and comfort features of the RS, plus: RS equipment mirrors what's on the LT Leather with the LT Premium package and adds: Heated, power-folding exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals.Enhanced automatic emergency braking (works at higher vehicle speeds).Adaptive cruise control (maintains a driver-set distance between the Traverse and the car in front).360-degree camera system (gives you a top-down view of the Traverse and its surroundings for tight parking situations).Digital rearview mirror (allows you to see out the back even with a fully loaded cargo area).4.2-inch multi-color driver instrument display.Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert (warns you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while in reverse)īesides the LS trim features, the LT Cloth is offered in more colors and includes:īesides leather seats, the LT Leather equips the Traverse with:.Rear parking sensors (alert you to obstacles that may not be visible in behind the vehicle when parking).Lane keeping assist (steers the Traverse back into its lane if it begins to drift over the lane marker).Forward collision warning with automatic braking (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios).Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration (with wireless connectivity).Second-row bench seat for eight-passenger seating. ![]() Overall, we're glad to see Chevy's improvements for the 2022 Traverse, but it needed a few more to be a truly compelling choice for a three-row crossover SUV. The Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot are solid picks too. ![]() The Volkswagen Atlas got a mild refresh for 2021, and we think this passenger- and cargo-friendly SUV is ideal if you need space for a full house of adults. On top of that they also have upscale cabin materials and loads of features at a compelling price. The Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride are the newest kids on the block, and like the Traverse, they offer excellent interior space. In particular, we're still unimpressed with the Traverse's overuse of hard plastic interior panels and its poor rearward visibility. These changes address some of the current Traverse's flaws, but not all of them. A handful of previously optional driving aids are now standard on all models. The central touchscreen is loaded with Chevrolet's newest infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Interior additions are primarily limited to tech offerings. The taillights are also redesigned to carry on the new narrow theme. It's a cool visual trick that distinguishes the Traverse's headlight signature even from far away. The refreshed Traverse borrows the Blazer's front-end styling and sleek and slim headlight design, which incorporates the turn signal into the daytime running light.

![]() The caveat? You could only break up your payments at those home-shopping channels. Home-shopping TV channels, like QVC and HSN, have had options to pay for items over time for several years. While this concept might still feel new, it's been around for a while. Consumers can now use various "buy now, pay later" apps to purchase their desired products for only one down payment, completing the remaining payments over time while using the product. The years of waiting to pay off an item before bringing it home are over. However, I don't think they will benefit the vast majority of consumers who are at risk of using them to justify everyday purchases and get caught spending more than they intended, on top of potentially paying interest and fees.Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Angelica Wilson I will admit if you are a consumer who uses them once or twice a year to take out a no-interest loan on a big purchase (like a couch, winter coat, or mattress), I think they would be worth it. Like micro-investing, these apps have good intentions, but I'm not convinced that all consumers will use them for their own financial benefit. There are too many risks associated with using these services and not enough potential benefits to offset them. Overall, I don't think buy-now, pay-later companies are good for consumers. It takes time and effort to manage multiple loans to ensure you aren't missing payments and incurring late fees. But could you imagine having a loan for every single item you purchase? Or even just for any item over $50? If you don't put them on autopay, it's easy to lose them in your monthly budgeting shuffle. It's easy to remember to make your mortgage and car payments every month or even set them to autopay. So you won't get any credit score benefit from making payments on time.Īnd last, small loans can be hard to manage. For example, they could turn a $1,440 purchase into a $1,500, $1,600, or $1,700+ purchase.Īnother minor downfall is that most of these companies don't report to credit bureaus. These costs can quickly offset the benefit of delaying payment. It's also worth calling out that interest and fees apply to these loans in many cases. Similar to credit cards, you have to use these apps as a tool to help you and not as a crutch to enable lousy spending habits. Breaking down the payment into multiple smaller payments makes everything sound better, but you have to realize they are the same thing, and you are still spending $1,440. Paying $40 a month for 36 months sounds much better than paying $1,440 right now. However, perhaps the biggest downfall to buy-now, pay-later apps is that they encourage overspending. If you can afford the item you are buying and genuinely need it, the ability to get an interest-free loan can be a good thing for consumers. And no-interest loans are always a good thing mathematically speaking, thanks to the time value of money.Įven with Affirm's traditional financing, if you have a good credit score, you could get a much longer interest-free or low-interest loan. Starting with the positive, you can get no-interest financing with these apps.įor example, using Klarna's Pay in 4 plan essentially gives you a six-week no-interest loan. But in general, I think they have the potential to do more harm than good. Why I think buy-now, pay-later apps are bad for consumersīuy-now, pay-later apps are not always a bad thing. Pay in 30: This is another no-interest loan that Klarna sometimes offers and is very similar to a credit card - you simply need to pay back your purchased item in full within 30 days.So if you bought a $400 item, you would owe $100 at checkout and another $300 spread out over the next six weeks. Pay in four: Entails paying back a purchased item in four equal payments due every two weeks, with the first payment due at purchase.Traditional fixed interest rate loans: Usually, these loan terms will range between three and 36 months with 0 to 30% interest, depending on the item you are buying and your credit score. Most buy-now, pay-later companies offer one of three types of loans: What are buy-now, pay-later apps?īefore diving into the pros and cons of these apps, I wanted to provide a quick overview of them.Ī few popular companies are offering this service, including: ![]() In my opinion as a personal finance writer, yes.
